MBoy: Called to Be More Than Just an Artist
·

For MBoy, music began during an unexpected season of his life. When the COVID period brought football to a halt, much of his daily structure disappeared. In that empty space, he started making music with friends, without any big expectations. What began as something small eventually grew into a path that would change his life.
This development went hand in hand with his faith. Where music once felt purely creative, it later gained a deeper meaning. As he says himself, “Words have power. I want to use my voice for God’s Kingdom.” His music became an extension of both his beliefs and his identity.
His identity as a Black artist is closely connected to his mission. He wants to show that success does not have to come at the cost of losing who you are. “I want to show that Black people can also be successful while still staying true to themselves,” he explains. For him, it’s not just about music, but also about representation and breaking expectations.
His upbringing played an important role in shaping who he is today. He grew up with influences from the streets and in a home situation that was not always stable. Yet from a young age, he developed a sense that he was meant for more. That inner conviction now helps him stay focused on his purpose.
Being an artist comes with both beautiful and challenging moments. The pressure of opinions and expectations can be heavy, especially in a world where everyone has something to say. At the same time, he finds strength in performing and in seeing the impact his music has on others.
His journey is one of growth and awareness. “You have to know who you are in Christ,” he says. From that certainty, he is not only building his career but also walking in his calling.
For MBoy, the message is clear. He wants to be more than just an artist. He wants to be an example—someone who inspires people to find their identity, discover their faith, and believe that their story matters. His goal goes beyond music; he wants to touch lives and show the next generation that their voice has power.
